Foundations Dance offers classes for ages 2 and up.

Classes are structured based on the age of your dancer.

Creative Movement & Pre-Ballet  

  • Creative Movement (ages 2-3)

  • Pre-Ballet 1 (ages 3-4)

  • Pre-Ballet 2 (ages 4-5)

Our Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet classes are excellent for young dancers to experience the structure of a dance class. Students will be introduced to basic ballet terminology as well as begin working on fine motor skills. These classes will incorporate traditional ballet class elements as well as fun props and games to help dancers learn their left from right, loud from soft, and much more.

Beginning Ballet 

  • Ballet 1 (ages 5-7)

  • Ballet 2 (ages 6-8)

  • Ballet 3 (ages 8-10)

Our beginning levels of ballet will transition the young dancer from a pre-ballet level class to a more structured ballet class. Dancers will experience a traditional ballet class progression including the ballet barre, center work, across the floor, and variation development. After completion of Ballet 3, dancers may transition to our intermediate levels to advance their technical training or into our dance technique classes for more recreational dancing.

Intermediate Ballet

  • Intermediate Ballet 1 (ages 9+)

  • Intermediate Ballet 2 (ages 11+)

  • Intermediate Ballet 3 (ages 13+)

Our intermediate levels are for our students that desire more of a challenge in their ballet training. These classes build off one another and are more comprehensive in developing ballet vocabulary and technique. Students in these levels will also have the option of working toward taking class en pointe.


Pointe

  • Beginning Pointe

Once dancers reach our Intermediate Ballet 2 level they have the option of adding beginning pointe. Dancers must have director and instructor permission to attend.

This class will prepare and evaluate our students for pointe shoes, as well as begin their journey once receiving their first pair of pointe shoes. Dancers must first complete and pass our pointe evaluation in order to participate in this class.

  • Pointe

This is a ballet class completed with pointe shoes on for the entire class. Dancers will focus on strength and stability in their shoes and completing a full ballet barre. Students will also begin to introduce pointe work in the center. Dancers must get director approval to attend.

Beginning Jazz

  • Jazz 1 (ages 5-7)

  • Jazz 2 (ages 6-8)

  • Jazz 3 (ages 8-10)

Our beginner level jazz classes introduce dancers to jazz technique and stylistic choreography. Students will take terms and skills learned in ballet and discover how they are changed to show a sharper and edgier side to dance as well as explore new skills and vocabulary associated with jazz dance. After completion of Ballet 3, dancers may transition to our intermediate levels to advance their technical training or into our dance technique classes for more recreational dancing.

Intermediate Jazz

  • Intermediate Jazz 1 (ages 9+)

  • Intermediate Jazz 2 (ages 11+)

  • Intermediate Jazz 2 (ages 13+)

Our intermediate levels of jazz are designed to build on basic jazz skills and vocabulary taught in our beginner levels. Classes will build on one another and include advanced levels of difficulty in technique, jumps, turns and combinations. *Enrollment in ballet is strongly encouraged.

Dance Technique

  • Dance Technique (ages 9-12)

  • Dance Technique (ages 13+)

Our dance technique classes are an excellent way to experience ballet, jazz and lyrical styles all in one! These classes are geared towards recreational dancers returning to dance after some time, new dancers or dancers looking to advance their technical training before transitioning to our intermediate levels. This is a great option for dancers who are currently on their school dance team or hoping to join in the future.

Our dance technique classes will focus on developing skills such as leaps, jumps and turns. Dancers will begin each class in a traditional ballet format beginning at the barre. Advancing technique and developing variations in both jazz and lyrical will be added with center and across the floor.

Acro

  • Intro to Acro (ages 5-7)

Intro to acro introduces dancers to the fundamentals of acrobatics. This class includes gymnast-like tumbling and flexibility skills (forward/backward rolls, cartwheels, handstands, walkovers, etc.). Dancers will focus on strength, balance, coordination, endurance and timing. These skills will be combined with dance steps to create a routine.

  • Acro Dance (ages 7+)

Acrodance is the next step in a dancers acrobatic journey. This class will continue to perfect the skills learned in Intro to Acro, while also adding new skills and introducing partner work (partnered cartwheels, pyramids, etc). These skills will be combined with dance steps to create a routine.

Tap 

  • Tap 1 (ages 5-7)

  • Tap 2 (ages 8-10)

Our beginning level tap class introduces dancers to the fundamentals of tap vocabulary and skills. Students will learn many different ways to make sounds with their tap shoes depending on which part of the shoe they use and how they use it.

  • Tap Technique (ages 9+)

Our elementary level tap class is geared towards our recreational dancers. These classes are structured to accommodate students that are coming to us after taking a break from dance class, joining tap class for the first time or advancing from our beginning tap levels.

  • Intermediate Tap 1 (ages 9+)

  • Intermediate Tap 2 (ages 11+)

Our intermediate tap classes continue the building blocks of previous tap classes and work on advancing skills to create additional sounds and rhythms. These classes are for dancers who like rhythm, precision footwork and creative styling. As students progress through each level the curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.

Hip Hop

  • Mini Hoppers (ages 4-5)

  • Hip Hop 1 (Ages 6-7)

If you have a dancer who loves to move and groove whenever they hear a song on the radio, this is the perfect class for them. Our beginning hip hop classes are the perfect way to get a busy mover into a dance class that gives them room to shimmy and shake.

  • Hip Hop 2 (Ages 8+)

  • Hip Hop 3 (ages 11+)

  • Advanced Hip Hop (Ages 13+)

Building on skills and tricks learned in our beginning hip hop classes, Hip Hop 2 and Advanced Hip Hop will include additional techniques and styles. Classes will focus on self expression, choreography, precision, creativity and developing your style. Advanced hip hop requires instructor permission.

Lyrical

  • Lyrical 1 (ages 8+)

Our beginning lyrical class is for dancers who want to work on the art of telling a story through dance. These classes blend both styles of ballet and jazz together to create a tale. *Enrollment in ballet or jazz is strongly encouraged.

  • Intermediate Lyrical (ages 11+)

  • Advanced Lyrical (ages 14+)

Students in our intermediate and advanced lyrical classes will further their story telling skills bringing music to life through movement as well as deepening their understanding to the stories they are telling. *Enrollment in ballet is required.

Contemporary

  • Contemporary 1 (ages 9+)

Dancers who are beginning to explore natural and pedestrian movement and wanting to integrate these aspects into dance will love our contemporary classes. This introductory class will initiate the thought process of why movements occur and how simple details can make a big statement in a dance. *Enrollment in ballet or jazz is encouraged.

  • Intermediate Contemporary (ages 11+)

These classes will expand to portray a wide array of movement styles and emotion. Dancers will explore the dynamics of movement, and other methods of choreographic design to learn to move their bodies in different ways while still telling a story through their bodies. These classes are for dancers who like creative challenges and connecting dance to other mediums. *Enrollment in ballet or jazz is encouraged.

Musical Theater

  • Musical Theater (ages 7+)

Do you have a dancer that loves musicals? This is the perfect class to explore beginning acting lessons as well as a deep understanding of ensemble work that brings a musical to life. Musical Theater is perfect for dancers who enjoy the spotlight. They will combine singing, dancing and acting to create a spectacular performance! All ages come together in this class for extra creativity and fun!

Adult/Child Classes

  • Adult/Child Jazz (adults / children ages 5-12)

  • Adult/Child Tap (adults / children ages 5-12)

These music and movement classes will help develop basic rhythm, dance skills and encourage movement and child/parent interaction. They provide an opportunity for creative expression that the whole family can enjoy.

Adult Dance Classes

Our adult dance classes are geared towards recreational dancers and are structured to accommodate students that are coming to us after taking a break from dance class or joining class for the first time. Adult students may wear traditional dancewear or comfortable athletic clothing to class.

  • Adult Ballet (18+)

Our adult ballet class is great for returning dancers or adults who are just beginning! This class will introduce dancers to the fundamentals of ballet including vocabulary and technique. A typical class will include barre, center, across the floor and stretching.

  • Adult Tap (18+)

Our adult Tap class will introduce dancers to the fundamentals of tap vocabulary and skills. These classes will focus on rhythms and patterns in footwork through proper technique, as well as personal style and producing clear sounds. Skills will be combined to create fun combinations to music.

  • Adult Musical Theater (18+)

Do you love musicals, laughing and having fun? This is the perfect class to explore beginning acting lessons as well as a deep understanding of ensemble work that brings a musical to life.

  • Adult Jazz (18+)

In our adult Jazz class, dancers will be introduced to jazz technique and stylistic choreography. Classes include warm up, isolations, stretches, across the floor progressions and choreography combinations.
